It’s clear that the momentum behind AI is unstoppable, but here’s the reality and I repeat again this year: AI isn’t just a topic for data scientists, engineers, governments, or tech giants. It impacts everyone — whether you’re a consumer, policymaker, or simply someone navigating the modern digital world.

Yet, as we rush to embrace AI’s transformative potential, I fear we aren’t paying enough attention to its risks. The consequences of ignoring these could be significant, affecting everything from jobs and privacy to global security. That’s why I’ve written this article: to provide a comprehensive summary of AI’s key developments in 2024 and highlight the risks and opportunities that everyone needs to understand.
